On July 2nd, 1918, an ear-splitting explosion at Split Rock Quarry in Syracuse, NY, turned an explosives factory into the largest tragedy in Upstate New York history, resulting in the sacrifices of numerous workers who gave up their lives to save countless others during World War I.
